AUGUSTA, Ga. -- Augusta State recorded 16 hits en route to a 14-1 non-conference win over Coker Wednesday afternoon at Lake Olmstead Stadium in Augusta, Ga. With the win the Jags are 13-5 on the season, and the Cobras drop to 5-13.

         

ASU’s lefty Kevin Kelley pitched a total of seven innnings giving up four hits and only one run. This was Kelley’s first win of the season.

Jayson Clarke got the loss for the Cobras, making him 1-3 on the season.

         

Robbie Fite led the Jags offensively hitting 4-for-5 with a double, three RBIs and three runs scored. Both Alex Sickman and John Partride went 3-for-4, and Shannon Wilkerson was 3-for-6 with a double and six RBIs.

         

For the Cobras, Julio Gomez and Ben Davidson each hit 2-for-4, making up four of the seven hits. 

         

ASU is back in action Saturday, March 3, in a three-game, Peach Belt Conference series against the Georgia Southwestern Hurricanes. A doubleheader is scheduled for Saturday at 12:30 p.m. and on Sunday at 1:00 p.m. Coker’s next game will be on the road in Florida, as the Cobras travel to Fort Myers, FL, for the Gene Cusic Classic. Their first game will be on March 4, a double-header versus Winona State from Minnesota.
