Hartsville, SC- The Coker Baseball Team scored early and often as they easily defeated the Falcons of St. Augustine 21-1. Coker improves to 6-3-1 on the year.

 

St. Augustine struck first scoring a run in the first, but that would be all that the Cobras would allow scoring three in the first, six in the second, nine in the fourth, a run in the fifth, two in the sixth and two more runs in the seventh inning. Coker only failed to score a run in the third inning. As a team Coker stole 10 bases, had 15 hits and drove in 18 runs.

 

Leading the Coker offense was senior Eric Losten going 3-for-3 with two doubles, five RBIs, four runs scored and two stolen bases. Brooks Urquart went 3-for-5 with a double, three RBIs, and two runs scored. Brian Nally went 1-for-2 with two RBIs, three stolen bases, three runs scored and two walks.

 

Coker’s Jayson Clarke (2-1) earned the win, throwing three innings, allowing only three hits and one run. Jesse Hatchell, Blake Miller and Larry Morris allowed a combined five hits and no runs over the next four innings.

 

For St. Augustine Justin Vias went 3-for-4 with a run scored, while Godfrey Burnside was also 3-for-4. Sterling Walker finished 1-for2 with a double. Starter Dennis Meshaw took the loss.

 

Coker travels to Mount Olive, NC on Saturday to face their first CVAC opponent of the season in Mount Olive College. The Cobras will play a double-header Saturday, followed by a single game on Sunday.
