HARTSVILLE, SC – Coker freshman Brad Boob/Charlotte, NC earned recognition as the Co-Freshman of the Year in Baseball Pre-Season All-CVAC voting.  Boob and Michael Raymond of Belmont Abbey claimed the honor in voting completed by the conference coaches.

Boob, a pitcher and catcher, came to Coker from Butler High School where he hit .325 for his career with a 2.00 ERA on the mound.  Boob graduated with a 3.71 GPA and was a member of the National Honor Society.  He was a North Carolina Scholar Athlete all four years in high school and was a Carolina Panthers Scholar Athlete as well.

Head Coach Dave Schmotzer is proud of his young player and excited to have him at Coker.  “Brad is a deserving recipient of this award coming off very good high school, American Legion, and the just completed Fall seasons,” Schmotzer said.  “In the short time that I’ve had the privilege of coaching him, he’s demonstrated the qualities that give him the potential to be a very good college student athlete.  Now Brad needs to use this preseason honor as an impetus to go out and claim post-season honors.”

Boob and the Cobras begin the 2005 season on February 1, at UNC-Pembroke.
