COLUMBIA, SC—Coker College pounded Benedict 15-3 Saturday afternoon in baseball action.  The Cobras, now 1-1 on the year, host Chowan College Sunday afternoon at 2:00 PM.

Coker jumped ahead 2-0 in the first inning with sophomore Brian Nally/Highland Heights, OH and senior Conrad Deese/Pageland, SC scoring.  Benedict got one run back in the bottom of the inning but CC added three runs in the second inning, two in the third, and two in the fourth for a 9-1 lead. 

In the fifth the Cobras walked four batters and hit another allowing the hosts to plate two runs, but CC scored three in the sixth and three more in the seventh to slam the door shut.

Junior Seth Weinberg/Sherwood, AR got the start and pitched four and two-thirds innings with seven strikeouts and two earned runs allowed to get the win.  Deese went 2-5 with two runs scored and Justin Sims/Westville, NY went 1-1 with two RBI and a run scored.
