The "Cobra Spotlight" is a weekly highlight of a student-athlete
at Coker College. Each week we take a different athlete from a
different sport and display some facets to get more familiar with

Senior men’s basketball forward, Sharod Williams, has been
selected as one of 16 finalists for the “State Farm Dark
Horse Dunker” competition. To watch the contest and vote,
visit https://www.facebook.com/collegeslam. Each of the finalists
is slotted against another Dark Horse Dunker candidate in the
bracket. Fans can access the bracket, watch video of each dunker
and vote for their favorite contestant. Fans can vote once per day.
Voting ends at 11:59 a.m. central time on Feb. 25. VOTE FOR

Women’s Basketball
- This week’s games:
- Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. (H) – Queens
- Friday at 5:30 p.m. (H) – Belmont Abbey
- Last week’s games:
- Pfeiffer (W) – 68-66
- King (W) – 73-65
- The Cobra women’s basketball team picked up a pair of
wins last week and pushed their winning streak to four games. They
will play their final two regular season games of the year this
week, both at home, against Queens and Belmont Abbey. Currently,
the Cobras are in fourth place in the league standings.
Men’s Basketball
- This week’s games:
- Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. (H) – Queens
- Friday at 7:30 p.m. (H) – Belmont Abbey
- Last week’s games:
- Pfeiffer (L) – 64-62
- King (L) – 73-72
- The Coker men suffered two heartbreaking losses last week. This
week they will take the court for their final two regular season
games of the season, both at home. Currently, the men are in eighth
place in the conference standings.
Men’s Volleyball
- This week’s matches:
- Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. (H) – Belmont Abbey
- Saturday at 4:00 p.m. (H) – Lees-McRae
- Last week’s matches:
- Eastern Mennonite (L) – 3-2
- Rust (W) – 3-0
- The men’s volleyball team picked up a 3-0 shut out
victory over Rust last week. This week they will look to continue
their winning ways with a pair of home matches on Wednesday versus
Belmont Abbey and Saturday against Lees-McRae.
Baseball
- This week’s games:
- Monday at 1:00 p.m. (H) – Barton
- Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. (H) – St. Andrews
- Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. (H) – UNC Pembroke
- Friday at 2:00 p.m. (H) – Limestone
- Saturday at 12 p.m. (H) – Limestone (DH)
- Last week’s games:
- Claflin (W) – 7-1
- Barton – (W) 7-6, (W) 3-2
- The baseball team won three in a row last week, including their
first two Conference Carolinas games of the season. This week they
will play a five game home stand, including a three-game conference
series against Limestone on Friday and Saturday.
Softball
- This week’s games:
- Monday at 2:00 p.m. (A) – Claflin (DH)
- Saturday at 1:00 p.m. (H) – Barton (DH)
- Last week’s games:
- Francis Marion – (L) 1-0, (L) 2-0
- Last week the softball team suffered a pair of tough losses to
local rival Francis Marion. This week the Cobras will travel to
Claflin and then return home for their first Conference Carolinas
series of the season against Barton.
Men’s Golf
- This week’s tournaments:
- Armstrong Pirate Invitational – Feb. 25-26
- The nationally ranked No. 16 Coker men’s golf team heads
to Savannah, Ga. this week for the Armstrong Pirate Invitational.
The tournament features seven nationally ranked teams. The
tournament will feature 36 holes on Monday and 18 holes on
Tuesday.
Men’s and Women’s Tennis
- This week’s matches:
- Saturday at 2:00 p.m. (H) – Lees-McRae
- Sunday at 10:00 a.m. (H) – King
- Last week’s matches:
- Wingate – Canceled
- North Greenville– Canceled
- Johnson C. Smith – (W) 6-3 – women, (W) 8-1 –
men
- After picking up two non-conference wins against Johnson C.
Smith last week, the Coker men’s and women’s tennis
teams will play their first conference matches of the season this
week. They will take on Lees-McRae and King on Saturday and
Sunday.
Men’s Lacrosse
- This week’s games:
- Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. (A) – Queens
- Friday at 7:00 p.m. (A) – Florida Tech
- Sunday at 1:00 p.m. (A) – Tampa
- Last week’s games:
- LIU Post (L) – 14-5
- Belmont Abbey - Postponed
- The men’s lacrosse team suffered a loss last week to LIU
Post. This week will be very busy one for the lacrosse team as they
play three games on the road, including their first conference game
of the season at Queens and a trip to the Sunshine State to take on
Florida Tech and Tampa.
