The "Cobra Spotlight" is a weekly highlight of a student-athlete
at Coker College. Each week we take a different athlete from a
different sport and display some facets to get more familiar with

Senior men’s basketball forward, Sharod Williams, has been
selected as one of 16 finalists for the “State Farm Dark
Horse Dunker” competition. To watch the contest and vote,
visit https://www.facebook.com/collegeslam.
Each of the finalists is slotted against another Dark Horse Dunker
candidate in the bracket. Fans can access the bracket, watch video
of each dunker and vote for their favorite contestant. Fans can
vote once per day. Voting opens at noon on Monday (Feb. 11) and
ends at 11:59 a.m. central time on Feb. 25. VOTE FOR SHAROD!!

Game
- Last week’s games:
- Barton (L) – 83-67
- North Greenville (L) – 81-71
- The Cobra women’s basketball team will play two
Conference Carolinas games this week, including their Play 4Kay
pink game to benefit the Kay Yow Breast Cancer Foundation. All
proceeds from Saturday’s (Feb. 16) game against Converse will
go to benefit the Kay Yow Foundation. The Cobras will wear special
pink warm-up shirts in honor of Kay Yow.
Men’s Basketball
- This week’s games:
- Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. (A) – Mount Olive
- Last week’s games:
- Barton (W) – 94-90 – 3OT
- North Greenville (W) – 70-63
- The Coker men extended their winning streak to three games last
week with a pair of wins, including an unbelievable 94-90 triple
overtime win against Barton College. This week the Cobras will have
to hit the road in order to keep their streak alive at Mount Olive.
Earlier this season Coker defeated Mount Olive 83-73.
Men’s Volleyball
- This week’s matches:
- Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. (H) – Mount Olive
- Saturday at 4:00 p.m. (A) – Limestone
- Sunday at 10:00 a.m. (A) – Washington Adventist @
Limestone
- The Cobras will host the Trojans of Mount Olive in a Conference
Carolinas match on Wednesday. They will then hit the road to take
on Limestone and Washington Adventist this weekend at
Limestone.
Baseball
- This week’s games:
- Tuesday at 5:00 p.m. (A) – Newberry
- Saturday at 12:00 p.m. (H) – Alderson-Broaddus (DH)
- Sunday at 12:00 p.m. (H) – Alderson-Broaddus
- Last week’s games:
- Newberry (W) – 11-4
- St. Augustine’s (W) – 10-9
- Anderson – 3-1 (L), 8-6 (W), 1-0 (L)
- The baseball team won three of five games last week, including
their home opener against Newberry (11-4). This week they will host
their first weekend series of the season, a three-game set against
Alderson-Broaddus on Saturday and Sunday.
Softball
- This week’s games:
- Friday at 1:00 p.m. (H) – St. Andrews (DH)
- Saturday at 1:00 p.m. (A) – Belmont Abbey (DH)

- Last week’s games:
- Wingate - 4-2 (W)- 8 inn., 8-0 (L)
- Newberry - 5-4 (W), 5-3 (L)
- The softball team split both of their match-ups last week
against Wingate and Newberry. This week they will host St. Andrews
(Feb. 13) and Columbia (Feb. 17) in non-conference games. They will
also travel to Belmont Abbey (Feb. 16) for their first Conference
Carolinas series of the season.
Men’s Golf

- Spring Kickoff Intercollegiate
- The nationally ranked No. 10 Coker men’s golf team will
hit the links for their first tournament of the spring season this
week, the Spring Kickoff Intercollegiate at the Fleming Island Golf
Club in Orange Park, Fla.
Men’s and Women’s Tennis
- This week’s matches:
- Wednesday at 3:00 p.m. (A) – Shaw
- Saturday at 1:00 p.m. (H) – Citadel – men
- Sunday at 1:00 p.m. (A) – Coastal Carolina –
women
- Last week’s matches:
- Lander – 8-1 (L) – men, 9-0 (L) – women
- Benedict – 9-0 (W) – men, 6-3 (W) –

- Francis Marion- 5-4 (L) – men, 9-0 (L) - women
- After a tough week that included regionally and nationally
ranked Lander and Francis Marion, the tennis teams will face
Division II opponent Shaw and Division I opponents the Citadel
(men) and Coastal Carolina (women).
Men’s Lacrosse
- This week’s games:
- Saturday at 2:00 p.m. (A) – Catawba
- The men’s lacrosse team opened their season with a 15-9
win over Shorter last week. This week they will travel to
Salisbury, N.C. to face Catawba College.
