Cobra Spotlight

The "Cobra Spotlight" is a weekly highlight of a student-athlete at Coker College. Each week we take a different athlete from a different sport and display some facets to get more familiar with them. Women’s Soccer

  • This week’s matches:
    • Wednesday at 3:00 p.m. (A)- Belmont Abbey
    • Saturday at 4:30 p.m. (H)- Brevard- CobraFANatics Night
  • Last week’s matches:
    • Newberry (W) – 1-0
    • Tusculum (L) – 1-0
  • Last week the Cobra women went 1-1 earning their first SAC victory of the season against Newberry. This week they will travel to Belmont Abbey for a non-conference game on Wednesday, and then they will return home for their final home match of the year on Saturday against Brevard. 

Men’s Soccer

  • This week’s matches:
    • Wednesday at 4:00 p.m. (H) – Flagler – Pause for Paws Night
    • Saturday at 7:00 p.m. (H) – Brevard – CobraFANatics Night
  • Last week’s matches:
    • Newberry (W) – 6-1
    • Tusculum (W) – 1-0
  • The Coker men went 2-0 last week with a dominating 6-1 win over Newbery and a 1-0 victory against Tusculum. This week the Cobras will host nationally ranked No. 22 Flagler College in a non-conference match on Wednesday. The men will then play host to Brevard College on Saturday in their final regular season match of the season. During Wednesday’s match Coker will be hosting Pause for Paws Night with all proceeds from the night going to the Darlington County Humane Society. There will also be a special Halloween costume contest during halftime of the match. Fans are encouraged to come dressed in their best family friendly Halloween costume.

Women’s Volleyball

  • This week’s matches:
    • Friday at 7:00 p.m. (A)- Lincoln Memorial
    • Saturday at 1:00 p.m. (A)- Carson-Newman
  • Last week’s matches:
    • Queens (L) – 3-1
    • Catawba (L) – 3-0
  • This week the women’s volleyball team travels to Tennessee to face South Atlantic Conference foes Lincoln Memorial and Carson-Newman.

Men’s & Women’s Cross Country

  • This week’s meet:
    • None
  • Last week’s meet:
    • Food Lion SAC Championship – women – 12 of 12, men – 12 of 12
  • Last week the Cobra runners traveled to Black Mountain, N.C. to take part in the 2013 Food Lion South Atlantic Conference Championships. This week the Coker teams will begin preparations for the NCAA Southeast Region Meet in Charlotte, N.C. on Nov. 9.  

Wrestling

  • This week’s matches:
    • Saturday at 9:00 a.m. (A) – Citadel Open in Charleston, S.C. 
  • Last week’s matches:
    • Blue & Gold Intersquad
  • The Coker wrestling team gave Coker its first taste of collegiate wrestling with the Blue & Gold Intersquad last week. This week the wrestling team will take part in its first official match of the season at the Citadel Open in Charleston, S.C.

Women’s Basketball

  • This week’s games:
    • Sunday at 2:00 p.m. (A) – Duke - Exhibition 
  • Last week’s games:
    • None
  • This week the Coker women’s basketball team will begin its 2013-14 season by taking on Division I Duke University in an exhibition game on Sunday. The Cobras and the Blue Devils will tip-off at 2 p.m. at historic Cameron Indoor Stadium. Admission to the game is free.
